“The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.” – Jesus Christ, our Eternal King and Savior AND the Holy Word of God
God’s children ARE allowed signs. Gideon was NOT a man lacking faith, as many mistakenly proclaim. He was a man that conversed with God and God loved him. God even gave Gideon a sign that he did not ask for. Do you remember what sign that was? It’s these signs and winks and messages from God that let our faith grow stronger and stronger by way of The Holy Word and The Holy Spirit. Many say “I have been given the Holy Spirit, so I do not require signs for my faith to be strong.” Well, actions speak louder than words. I watch many of these people that say such things and time and time again, they prove that their faith is not strong. In Judges 6:34 we see that the Holy Spirit is given to Gideon and it is only after receiving the Holy Spirit that Gideon asks God for signs to help him with the upcoming battle, in Judges 6:37. Gideon is not asking for signs to test God. He is asking for signs through prayer because he loves God and is only a mere man and needs help, and he knows all things are possible with God.
In the verses where Jesus Christ is quoted, the Pharisees and Sadducees only ask Jesus Christ for a sign in order to try to prove Him a false prophet. There shall be no signs or winks or messages for those that do not want what God has to offer, but there is ALWAYS personal proof through signs, winks and messages for God’s children, in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
Glory and Praise be to God in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ!
